Mother’s Day is a celebration that commemorates the support and love mothers show to their families. This year, to help her au pairs and host moms celebrate Mother’s Day, AuPairCare Area Director Leslie Marks brought her cluster together and connected her au pair program participants through food, celebration, and the power of cultural exchange.
To make moms feel special, Leslie invited all the au pairs and host moms from her area to a local restaurant for a special Mother’s Day brunch. Immediately as the event began, au pairs quickly began chatting among themselves and building connections with other au pairs from around the world.
Host Mom Pooja enjoyed meeting other moms, and this Cultural Connections Event was the first she’d attended. She connected with another Host Mom Kelcey and found that they had a lot in common as they are both in the medical field.
Both moms said, " It was so nice to have an afternoon out and get to know other moms in the program.”
The event featured delicious food, fun times, and even a chocolate pinata which the au pairs had fun breaking open. The curious restaurant staff got to learn about the au pair program, and the number of different countries that were represented at the table.
Au Pair Hadassah said, "If there's one thing I can say about my area director here in DFW, it's that she always shows up for her au pairs and plans the best monthly events! This past weekend as our cluster celebrated Mother's Day, it was filled with lots of food, fun and making new friends. The most perfect afternoon to meet new people and an opportunity for extra host mum and au pair bonding.”
