One of the wonderful aspects of the AuPairCare program is the sense of community that's created through cultural exchange and shared experiences. This October, a group of au pairs and their host families came together to celebrate the beauty of fall at a local pumpkin patch in Kent, Washington.
The event was a perfect way to enjoy the crisp autumn air and colorful scenery, with everyone gathering to pick pumpkins, share laughs, and spend quality time together. For many of the au pairs, it was their first time experiencing many of the quintessential fall tradition in the U.S., and they were eager to dive into the festivities with their host families and friends.
Several au pairs who had recently arrived were especially grateful for the chance to connect with others in the group. "I’m so happy to have made new friends and to feel like I’m part of a community here," one au pair shared. These kinds of events provide the perfect opportunity for au pairs to build meaningful connections, not only with their host families but also with other au pairs, which can make the transition to living in a new country smoother and more enjoyable.
A host family whose au pair had just arrived expressed their appreciation as well: "It makes us feel good knowing our au pair can have a sense of community in this group. It’s reassuring to know she has a network of support."
Throughout the day, it was heartwarming to see the au pairs talking and connecting with each other, their host families, and the host kids. These events are powerful reminders of the importance of cultural exchange and a chance to create lifelong connections and celebrate the joys of sharing traditions.
