We recently held a fun Zumba class for all au pairs and host families to enjoy! Zumba Instructor, Emi Martin, led an interactive dance session combining all elements of fitness β cardio, balance, and flexibility! Zumba is a workout designed to bring people together through the art of dance while also getting the heart rate going through high and low intensity movements. Not only is it a great exercise, but a fun way to tie in cultural exchange since Zumba incorporates Latin music and dances like salsa and merengue. This was also a new activity for some au pairs, where Zumba dance sessions are not common in their home countries.
Exercise-focused virtual events have been extremely successful with our au pairs and host families, because of how fun it is to workout with the crowd. Academy Curriculum & Training Manager, Kerry Birmingham-Smith, said βThe Zumba event was a big success, over 60 attendees joined. They absolutely loved the Zumba Instructor, Emi! Many au pairs are requesting that we have Zumba again.β Claudia from Colombia said
I loved the music and Emi's enthusiasm and positive energy. Thank you so for hosting this event!
Making connections and building relationships are key to a happy and successful program year, and these events are key since in-person events are not possible. AuPairCare has hosted a variety of exercise-based events from Kickboxing to Pilates and Meditation. Since many au pairs and host families find these physical events to be a fun stress reliever and a way to achieve their fitness goals for the new year, we have had many attendees join. With all the extra time spent at home due to the pandemic, virtual events like this are one of the ways we are supporting our participants to make connections during these difficult times.
