Contractual Benefits
* The US Department of State determines the minimum amount of weekly pocket money for childcare by au pairs. The calculation is based on the federal minimum wage after deduction of 40% for food and lodging. The host family and au pair are free to agree a higher compensation than the legally stipulated minimum.
Flexible Flights
Your flight is covered to the US, including connecting flights from New York to the host family, and flexible return flight to your home country upon successful completion of the program.
Visa
Your DS-2019 form and SEVIS fee will be covered. You will only need to pay the local visa application and processing fee when applying for your J-1 visa.
Insurance
Your travel and accident insurance package is covered for the length of your program, including liability insurance during working hours.
Extras
Certificate of successful participation, optional one-time extension of the au pair stay for 6, 9, or 12 months, and USD $250 to $500 college tuition to earn 3 or 6 credits (depending on length of extension).

The cost to join the au pair program varies by country, but you can expect to pay a fee between USD $240 - $2,500 which covers application processing, English testing and interviews, DisC personality assessment, and J-1 Visa preparation. No portion of that fee is used to pay for the costs of the international airfare of domestic U.S. transportation. Once you begin your application, you will be contacted by a knowledgeable AuPairCare representative in your country who will provide you with more detailed information about program costs.
You will also need to plan on a few additional costs that are not included in the program, such as Visa charges (USD $185), transportation to/from your personal interview and Embassy appointment, any fees incurred for acquiring a basic police check, medical records, international driving license or a passport.

Enjoy even better placement opportunities and save € 200 if you look after one or more children under the age of 2 in your host family. You will also have the chance to complete an Infant Specialized Au Pair Training (ISAP) with a certificate. You will be selected for this special 5-day training in infant care and infant development by AuPairCare in the U.S.. To qualify for the ISAP training, you should be able to prove at least 300 hours of caring for children under the age of one year.
To receive the discount, you must fulfill the current eligibility requirements for the AuPairCare program and have successfully completed your studies in one of the following fields: Kindergarten teacher, social worker, teaching assistant, pediatric nurse, midwife, medical nurse, children's therapist, or children's logopedist.
