FAQs

Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions. If you have any other questions please contact us so that we can get you the answers that you might need.

Is my English level good enough?

If you are able to communicate well in English you will be fine as your English will also improve significantly during the program. The personal interview and the video are great ways for AuPairCare to assess your English skills.

When can I start the program?

There are multiple start dates every month so that you can start your year in the U.S. depending on your own and your host family's needs. University students typically start between June and September.

Do I have to stay for the full year?

Yes, the program is a minimum of 12 months per the U.S Department of State regulations. You will be surprised how fast it will go by! Most au pairs end up being sad that the year went by too quickly. Remember you can always extend, like so many other au pairs do! If you plan to start university afterwards start your program in time to be back in time for university.

When should I start the application process?

We recommend between 3-12 months before you want to start your program. If you are in your last year of high school it might make sense to apply 6-9 months prior to your preferred start date so that your application does not interfere with your final exams.

Do I need special insurance?

The AuPairCare program includes a comprehensive travel and accident insurance package so that all the basics are covered.

Expand your world with family and friendships from around the globe

We are passionate about making the world a smaller place by building cultural understanding and friendships across borders.
