In the United States, we celebrate our country's Independence on July 4th. This year we hope you can reflect on the day and enjoy time with your family or au pair. We’ve found some kid friendly fun recipes you can make (that look patriotic as well) enjoy!
Who doesn’t like food on a stick? These are super simple to make and eat! It’s best to keep the littlest hands away from sharp objects so to make these fruit-kabobs start by pre-cutting your fruits. Have the kids slide them on skewers alternating strawberries and bananas and saving the blueberries for the top. It’s so easy to make a delicious snack!
While you have all the fruit out, why not make a tasty refreshing drink as well. This works great if you have time to stick the fruit in the freezer ahead of time, but don’t worry if you can’t. Find a pretty clear pitcher and fill it with water (plus lemon and sugar if that's your choice) and then add in your fruits. Cutting pineapples into stars is a fun and easy flourish!
If you have a sweet tooth, and your kids are a little older, consider making a cake. There are lots of cake recipes out there depending on your taste preferences. The key here is to use a rectangular pan to make it easy to turn into a flag. Get a white frosting for the base (cream cheese and vanilla both work) and layer on strawberries and blueberries in the shapes of a flag. Delicious!
