June is Pride Month! Pride is both a public celebration of visibility and a personal celebration of self-worth and dignity. This Pride Month, we recognize the valuable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals around the world, and we reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. We also wanted to highlight a few ways the AuPairCare community celebrated this special month - read on from au pair Milo and Area Director Rachel !
"These tiny humans don't care what I am. A member of LGBTQ+ or not. My current host family is so incredibly supportive! From day one, they have accepted me. They are interested in my life as a transgender person, but wait until I approach them to tell them something. They defend me and correct people who use the wrong pronouns and the rest of my host family and friends are also accepting. The kids absolutely don't care how I identify myself. They see me as their big brother/uncle who looks out for them.
There are many families who absolutely don't care. They care about your character and personality. Not your gender or your sexuality. - Milo from Germany

Area Director Rachel, also recently nominated as AuPairCare's 2020 Cultural Ambassador, her au pair cluster, and her family participated in the 2021 New York City Pride March! Au pairs from Montenegro, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Turkey, and more all gathered at Area Director Rachel's home the evening before the event for their monthly Cultural Connection event and agreed to hop on the train and join Rachel in New York City to celebrate Pride, along with her family.
Rachel says of attending New York City Pride with her au pair cluster: "It was an amazing event and the connection with my cluster left me an “emotional wreck”! Rachel is a fantastic Area Director that always goes above and beyond to support her au pairs and it was amazing to witness Rachel’s cluster reciprocate the support for her family!
