Celebrating J Day Across the Country
On August 1st all around the country AuPairCare staff and program participants got together to celebrate J-Day. This annual celebration of cultural exchange is a way for United States J-1 visa sponsors to celebrate the impact of cultural exchange in their communities as well as their day-to-day lives. Below are three stories from across the country that share of how we chose to showcase the J-Day motto: #eatplaygive.
AuPairCare’s corporate offices celebrated J-Day by asking all team members to bring in non-perishable foods that would be donated to the San Francisco/Marin Food Bank. The AuPairCare team took time out of their day to #eatplaygive as they packaged up the food, snacked on international treats and talked about the upcoming Olympic Games.
Au pairs from the Cincinnati, Ohio region gathered together at a local Cheesecake Factory for a group dinner in honor of J-Day. In addition to eating, laughing, and enjoying one another’s company, they brought with them canned food items that were then donated to Reach Out Lakota. This non-profit helps local families in need.
Portland Area Director Tanja hosted a potluck dinner party in honor of J-Day. Au pairs across the region gathered together to discuss what the au pair program meant to them as well as cultural experiences they had all shared while living in the United States.
