Family Qualifications
AuPairCare is designated by the U.S. Department of State to place au pairs. Prior to acceptance into the program, all families wishing to host an au pair must meet the U.S. Department of State and AuPairCare requirements.
To participate in the program, families must:
- Be committed to cultural exchange and be willing to welcome an au pair as a family member
- Be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents
- Be fluent in English and speak English as the primary language in the home
- Provide the au pair with a private bedroom
- Submit a completed application and two references
- Have an in-home interview with an AuPairCare representative
- Be willing to comply with U.S. Department of State regulations
- Au pairs can work up to 45 hours a week, up to 10 hours a day. You can arrange the au pair's schedule to suit your needs within these guidelines.
