Au Pair Daniela, Germany
Daniela is 26 and from Germany. She grew taking care of children as a babysitter and a cousin to young children. Daniela has also participated in voluntary training at home to learn about childcare skills relating to young children. She is also trained as a bilingual secretary in her home town and then moved to Frankfurt for work prior to joining the AuPairCare au pair program.
Daniela was placed with a family in North Carolina where she takes care of two children, a 7 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. Once her first year as an au pair was complete she and her family extended her au pair program for an additional 9 months. Here is an excerpt from her story as an AuPairCare au pair.
"I bring the kids to school in the morning and need to pick them up in the afternoon. Back home we do their homework and then we play together. If the weather is nice we play outside or go to the park. Sometimes we cook dinner and when mom and dad coming home we eat all together.
At the beginning it was really funny with the kids. Every time I didn't understand a word they tried to explain or show me what they mean. Since then I call them my walking talking dictionaries. We have a lot of fun together. We do homework together, go to the parks, movies, museums, do crafts, have play dates or just play all together at home. I get along with my host family really well and we do a lot of things together too. That's why it wasn't a difficult decision to extend for 9 more months."
